The Society of Translators and Interpreters of BC (STIBC) is commemorating the 2016 International Translation Day with an open house for all its members and the public at large. The open house will feature two panel discussions and a special view of translation through a numismatic lens followed by a free form networking opportunity.
3:00 to 3:45 - Panel #1: Getting certified. Two members (English to Arabic & Chinese to English) who have successfully passed the National certification examination will share their experiences and detailed what it took for them to succeed.
3:45 to 4:30 - Panel #2: A day in the life of a translator and a conference interpreter. A Certified Translator and a conference interpreter will answer questions from the audience about the ins and outs of translation with a nostalgic view of the Society, and what it is like to do conference interpreting.
