There are many ways to translate a given sentence in a specific language combination and they may all be right. But, which ones are more acceptable within the Canadian/CTTIC context? This is an interactive workshop where the instructor (a certified translator) and participants will have a text to translate before they come to the workshop. Participants will give their version of the translation of each sentence and get the perspective of the instructor, who will elaborate on the common issues regarding a particular language combination.

坐在沙地上，脱掉鞋子，抖出半斤沙子，“轻装”前进，很快就来到了月牙泉边。泉
水虽然还算干净，但却浅得可怕！里面成群结队的黑背鱼在分割成两块的泉水中慌张地游
来游去，看着这些一尺多长的生灵如此的不安，仿佛让人觉察到了一点世界末日的滋味！
黑背鱼是月牙泉的特产，虽然它们现在看起来数量众多，但在这微薄的泉水中，它们究竟
还能自由地喘息几天呢？
行走在原本应该淹没在泉水中的芦苇滩上，心中纳闷着池水消失的原因。一会儿便
走到了月牙的另一端，看到前面山脚下有一棵独特的老榆钱树，顽强地扎根在月牙泉边的
沙滩上。树阴下，躺着一位老太太和两个几岁大的小女孩。我同老太太拉起家常，她告我
她是敦煌本地人，解放后由于大量开采地下水灌溉农田，这里的地下水位越来越低，而泉
水也就越来越少了。
