The Dead Sea Scrolls and Translation

This 1-hour online workshop is conducted in French and open to translators and interpreters of all levels.

About the Workshop:

The Discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls revolutionized the state of knowledge about the Bible, the history of Judaism and the development of Christinaity. In this presentation, we will cover the events surrounding the discovery, the atmosphere of mystery and secrecy shrouding the study and the light the findings cast on Judaism and the development of Christianity. We will then explore some of the difficulties related to the translation of these biblical documents.  The presentation will move to isolate some applications in translation, more specifically from English to French.

Workshop facilitator: Joelle Lake, Certified Translator. Joelle is an accredited member of STIBC and AT and has an M.A in Littérature et langue française from the Uuniversity of Toronto (ON) and an M.A in Biblical Studies from Trinity Western University (BC).

This workshop is subject to cancellation by STIBC if the minimum number of participants is not met.

This is an online Webinar via Zoom. Zoom link will be emailed to registrants the day before the session.
