A theoretical and applied look at these "little words" that sometimes disappear. We will look at what is conveyed by using "a", "the", or no article at all, and compare with equivalent situations in French. Although examples and practice texts will be between English and French, this workshop would actually be most useful for practitioners of languages that have no articles, such as Chinese, Japanese, Russian, etc.

Facilitator:

Emmanuel Hérique

(Certified translator, accredited interpreter, professor of French language and linguistics at the University of Victoria)
